I Don’t Want a Holiday in the Sun

Being single and deciding to go on holiday has its advantages and disadvantages.  Ok disadvantages.

1. Not having someone to share experiences with.

2. Deciding where you are going to go.

3. Planning the trip alone.

OK advantages.

You see what I did there.  I did the thing with the thing and then turned it round to do the thing.  However, in truth it can be a little daunting thinking of what to do and where to go for a week or 2 week vacation.  At my age it has finally dawned on me that I must go on a break that I am going to enjoy and is related to my interests.  Yes, I hear you say, Chris that’s the whole point! Well this time I did exactly that and had a brilliant holiday which totally suited where I am at the moment and was also very inspirational. If anyone is wondering why there is a random picture of Rodin’s ‘The Thinker,’ it’s because it’s supoosed to represent someone thinking about what they’re going to do on their holidays, tenuous and a little crass I know but I thought the article needed a picture.

Now I can hear you shifting on your seats thinking this piece is a going to be a long drawn out explanation of what I did on my holidays and I can also hear you reaching for the off button or a return to the Daily Mail’s ‘Femail today’ section,( Come on you know you love a bit of goss!). Well it’s not and here is a short paragraph explaining my holybobs.

Leonardo Da Vinci exhibition, The Museum of Science of Industry ( Manchester), The Whitworth Art Gallery (Manchester),’ The Comedy of Errors’, The Royal Exchange (Manchester), ‘Les Miserables’, The Queens Theatre, (London), Covent Garden,(London), The National Gallery, (London), Tate Modern, (London), ‘The Habit of Art’, The National Theatre, (London), The National Portrait Gallery,(London), ‘Enron’, Noel Coward Theatre,(London), ‘A Small Family Business’, Theatre Clywd, (Mold, Wales), ‘Anthony and Cleopatra’, RSC,(Stratford Upon Avon), Shakespeare’s birthplace,(Stratford Upon Avon)  Shakespeare’s resting place,(Stratford Upon Avon). Yes, Stephen Fry I challenge you to a duel!

So as you can see my holidays have been based on my love of the arts and I’ve finally realised that this is the way to go. Combine my love of the arts with my vacation. Now why haven’t I thought of that earlier! However in all seriousness it has been a great two weeks and now I will be spending a lot of my time writing up reviews of my theatre and gallery trips as well as doing a few pieces on what I thought of places such as Soho and Stratford so I am hoping you will enjoy and be patient as there is a lot to get through.

As you can see this has not touched on my love of music so I may have a few ideas  for my next holiday!
